The Coon Rapids Rotary - Fall Social is a fundraiser for two Coon Rapids High School Programs: 1) The Respect Retreat put on by Youth Frontiers. This is a one-day retreat for every 9th grade student 2) The Coon Rapids High School – Center for Biomedical Sciences and Engineering, a program designed to expose students to STEM-related careers, including those in the medical, engineering, manufacturing, and technology fields.
The goal of the event is to raise awareness of what youth who are homeless may experience when the darkness of night sets in. Many are staying in shelters, sleeping on the streets or in their cars, and couch-hopping. HOPE 4 Youth ensures all youth feel safe, valued, and supported while reaching their full potential. This begins with meeting their basic needs and leads to supporting them with the resources and skills needed to find and keep stable housing.
Every child deserves a safe, comfortable place to sleep. For thousands of children across the country, that simple need is still unmet. Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) works to change that by building and delivering beds to children who are sleeping on floors, couches, air mattresses, or sharing beds with parents or siblings.
What if one bench could transform the way our community sees homelessness? How do people in our community feel about homelessness? What can we learn when we slow down, listen closely and engage with real stories—person to person? What solutions can we come up with together to interrupt the cycles of homelessness around us? In celebration of World Homeless Day, UGM Twin Cities will be broadcasting live for 24 hours from a bench right outside their doors. You can listen in as neighbors experiencing homelessness, team members, local pastors, community officials and leaders stop by our bench for raw, authentic conversations. Watch live! This is a hands-on outreach opportunity for families with kids, individuals, clubs, teams, youth groups, or work groups to assemble dream kits and help deliver beds and dream kits to children in our community in need of beds. Volunteers will meet at our office for a short orientation and to pack kits and then follow our van to families’ homes

Our primary focus is on supporting youth and education, along with various community groups - through a combination of hands-on, roll-up-our-sleeves service and fundraising efforts. Feel free to join us for good conversation, inspiration and more importantly learn more about we do to make a positive impact in the community and around the world. The Club is currently meeting in-person twice per month on the second and fourth Monday of each month beginning at 12:15 p.m. at the Bunker Hills Event Center.
